Antonina Rosario Sasieta Morales is a lawyer, former congresswoman and Peruvian television presenter, recognized for her defense of women’s and children’s rights. She earned a law degree from the Universidad Nacional Federico Villarreal and spent much of her career in legal practice serving low-income clients, becoming a noted specialist on family and gender issues. Elected to Congress for Lima (2006–2011) with Frente de Centro, Sasieta chaired and served on committees related to justice, human rights, childhood and budget matters. Among the legislative initiatives she supported were the creation of the Registry of Delinquent Child Support Debtors, the mandatory inclusion of a gender perspective in the public budget, and regulations on unpaid work. She also held local office—serving as lieutenant mayor of San Bartolo (2003–2006)—and hosted the legal program Señora ley on public channels. In August 2020 she took office as Minister of Women and Vulnerable Populations during Martín Vizcarra’s government. Her career includes political disputes and public controversies that shaped her public image and institutional role. After her term in Congress she concentrated on private legal practice and worked as a commentator and specialist on women’s and children’s law.
