Sam Jones was an American basketball player and coach whose career is closely associated with the Boston Celtics. As a shooting guard, he played his entire career for the franchise and won ten NBA championships, including a run of eight straight titles, becoming one of the most iconic figures of the club's winning era. Known for his offensive efficiency and for deciding games with clutch shots, Jones was a five-time All-Star and a three-time All-NBA Team selection. His on-court contributions earned him a place among the greatest players in league history and the retirement of the Celtics' No. 24 jersey. After ending his playing career, he went into coaching, leading teams such as the Washington Bullets and the Seattle SuperSonics and returning to coach the Celtics for six seasons. In 1984 he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, cementing his legacy as one of the sport's great winners and most influential figures.
