Sébastien Demorand was a French journalist and food critic known for his editorial and media role in contemporary culinary culture. He graduated in political science from the University of Paris-Sorbonne and trained in journalism at CFJ. He began his career at outlets such as Europe 1 and the Gault et Millau guide, and also contributed to specialist publications and platforms including Régal, Fooding, RTL and L’Optimum. Over the course of his career he published works on gastronomy and culinary criticism, including contributions that examine techniques, schools and critical reflection on contemporary cuisine. His work combined technical assessment with accessible language, helping to broaden debate about quality and innovation in the sector. From 2010 he became widely known as a member of the jury on the French version of MasterChef, where he served as the panel’s food critic. Fluent in English, he also appeared as a guest on international editions of the format. His legacy remains at the intersection of food journalism and French culinary culture.
