Shirley Temple Black was an American actress, dancer, singer, and diplomat.
In her forties she ran for political office without success. In 1974 she was appointed by President Gerald Ford as United States Ambassador to the now-defunct Czechoslovakia, a post she held until 1976. From 1989 to 1992 she was Ambassador to Ghana, appointed by George H. W. Bush.
As an actress, she was not only the biggest child star of her era but is also considered the most famous of all time. Her films remain very popular to this day, particularly among girls.
