Star Jones is an American lawyer, journalist and television personality, best known for her long tenure as one of the original co-hosts of the morning show The View, where she remained for nine seasons. A law graduate, she began her career as a prosecutor in Kings County (Brooklyn) and later worked as a legal commentator on national networks, covering high-profile cases such as that of O. J. Simpson.
Over the course of her career, Jones hosted her own programs and held editorial positions at television networks, notable for blending legal analysis with entertainment journalism. In 1994 she broke new ground by presiding over a televised courtroom show, becoming the first Black person to serve in that role within the reality arbitration subgenre. She has also appeared on reality shows and worked as a host of entertainment and courtroom programs on various channels.
Her public career includes episodes of controversy related to personal exposure and her relationships with networks, which culminated in her departure from The View in the mid-2000s.
