Timothy Francis Leary was a psychologist, author, and a central figure of the American counterculture, notorious for advocating the use of psychedelic drugs as therapeutic and spiritual tools. Trained as an academic, he gained public attention by coordinating psychedelic experiments with students—an episode that led to his dismissal from Harvard and cemented his controversial reputation among both conservatives and the youth of the 1960s.
