Yitzhak (Isaac) Herzog is an Israeli politician and lawyer whose career blends public service, party leadership, and institutional representation. The son of President Chaim Herzog and the grandson of rabbis and diplomats, he earned a law degree in Tel Aviv, served in Unit 8200, and worked in the family law firm before entering public life.

Over the following decades he held several key ministerial posts — including Housing, Tourism, and Welfare and Social Services — and served as Cabinet Secretary (1999–2001). He was a member of the Knesset from 2003 to 2018, led the Labor Party and the Zionist Union alliance (2013–2017), and was leader of the opposition, contesting the premiership in 2015.
