Zak Richard Starkey is an English drummer and percussionist whose career spans decades of collaboration with British rock bands and artists. The son of Beatles drummer Ringo Starr, he attracted attention from a young age by developing a self-taught technique and playing with names such as the Spencer Davis Group, Icicle Works, Adrian Smith and John Entwistle, in addition to taking part in tours with his father. His profile rose when he took over drumming duties for The Who on tours and recordings from the mid-1990s, a role that earned praise from the press and members of the band for providing a powerful rhythmic presence without imitating Keith Moon. He took part in notable moments for the group, including benefit concerts and major international events. At the same time, he worked with artists and groups such as Oasis, Johnny Marr and the Lightning Seeds, and joined occasional projects like Silver Machine as well as studio and touring partnerships. He also participated in commemorative and charitable initiatives throughout his career. His artistic legacy is tied to his ability to sustain classic rock repertoires with historical sensitivity, balancing respect for the originals with a distinct technical identity.
