A-Trak (Alain Macklovitch) is a Canadian DJ, music producer and record‑label executive whose career spans more than two decades. He first became known at a young age as a technical turntablist, winning world competitions and earning a reputation for incorporating scratching into performances that moved between hip‑hop and electronic music. His profile rose when he served as Kanye West’s touring DJ and contributed scratches to records such as Late Registration and Graduation.
In 2007 he founded the label Fool’s Gold, recognized for launching and advancing the careers of artists including Kid Cudi, Danny Brown and Flosstradamus, which also established him as a curator and scene‑builder. At the same time he took part in notable collaborative projects, including the duo Duck Sauce, which received a 2012 Grammy nomination for “Barbra Streisand.”
As a solo artist and remixer, A‑Trak has produced releases and reinterpretations that circulated at festivals and in specialist media, helping popularize the crossover between EDM and turntablism techniques. His legacy combines technical virtuosity, executive instinct and a central role in promoting new names and sounds in the contemporary electronic scene.
