Andrew Roy "Andy" Gibb was an Anglo-Australian singer, songwriter and actor, known for his solo career in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The youngest brother of the Bee Gees, he had eight Top 20 singles on the US Hot 100, including three number ones — "I Just Want to Be Your Everything," "(Love Is) Thicker Than Water" and "Shadow Dancing" — establishing him as a notable figure in the disco and pop eras. His recorded output includes the albums Flowing Rivers, Shadow Dancing and After Dark, the latter featuring collaborations with Olivia Newton-John. Beyond music, he appeared in musicals such as The Pirates of Penzance and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and co-hosted the US television program Solid Gold. His career was also affected by addiction and depression, issues that damaged his health in later years. Andy died in 1988 of myocarditis at age 30. His legacy lives on in his hit songs and in tributes from his brothers — including the song "Wish You Were Here" — which attest to the influence and memory he left in pop music.
