Chris Froome is a British road cyclist of international prominence, professional since 2007. Known for his time-trialling ability and strength in high mountains, he has more than 60 victories, among them four wins at the Tour de France (2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017), one Giro d’Italia (2018) and two Vuelta a España titles (2011 and 2017). His palmarès also includes 14 Grand Tour stage wins and overall victories in prestigious stage races such as the Critérium du Dauphiné (three editions), the Tour de Romandie and the Tour of Oman. He won the Vélo d’Or three times as the best rider of the year. Born in Kenya and raised in South Africa, Froome moved from mountain biking to the road and joined Team Sky, where he rose to leadership and achieved his greatest successes. Across his career he experienced controversial episodes and periods of recovery from injuries and illness, but he remained a constant presence among cycling’s leading figures for nearly two decades. Froome’s legacy is tied to his dominance in modern Grand Tours, the combination of climbing punch and time-trial performance, and the influence he had on the success of the team he rode for during the peak years of his career.
