Daniel Darc, stage name of Daniel Rozoum, was a French singer known for his work in post-punk and new wave with the band Taxi Girl, which rose to prominence between 1978 and 1986 alongside Mirwais Ahmadzaï. After the group split, he also established himself as a solo artist, releasing the 1987 album Sous influence divine, produced by Jacno and featuring a reinterpretation of "Comment te dire adieu," a song associated with Serge Gainsbourg and Françoise Hardy. Over the following decades he maintained a varied creative output: in 1994 he released Nijinsky and, in the 21st century, collaborated with composer-producer Frédéric Lo on Crève cœur (2004) and Amours suprêmes (2008), the latter album including contributions from names such as Alain Bashung and Robert Wyatt and whose title alludes to John Coltrane's A Love Supreme. In 2011 he released his final album in life, La Taille de mon âme, followed by posthumous material in 2013. In addition to his own recordings, Darc took part in numerous collaborative projects and tribute albums, writing and performing songs for other artists and appearing on commemorative records, which cemented his presence in the contemporary French music scene.
