Sir David Paradine Frost was an English broadcaster and journalist whose career spanned comedy, production and high‑impact television interviews. He rose to prominence during the satirical wave of the 1960s as host of That Was the Week That Was, a program that made him nationally known and opened doors to work in the United States. He became known for his incisive interview style and for televised conversations with senior political figures. Among his most notable achievements are the interviews with Richard Nixon in 1977, which remained a journalistic reference and were adapted for stage and film, and the record of having interviewed every British prime minister from 1964 until his death, as well as sitting U.S. presidents between 1969 and 2008. Frost also took part in the launch of the TV‑am broadcaster and was the first presenter of the American program Inside Edition. Over his career he received major recognitions, including the BAFTA Fellowship in 2005 and the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Emmys in 2009. His work combined entertainment and journalism, leaving a legacy in the conduct of political interviews and television current‑affairs programming.
