Dodi Battaglia (Donato Battaglia) is an Italian guitarist, singer and songwriter whose public career is best known for his long membership in the band Pooh, which he joined in 1968. Author of more than 140 published songs—over 70 written for the group—he distinguished himself both as a soloist and as lead vocalist on early hits such as "Tanta voglia di lei" and "Noi due nel mondo e nell'anima." His guitar technique is documented in numerous instrumental tracks and group suites, establishing his reputation as a virtuoso with a wide audience. During the 1980s and 1990s he received national and international recognition as best guitarist and launched parallel projects, including the solo album Più in alto che c'è (1985) and participation in the supergroup Adelmo e i suoi Sorapis. He also released solo instrumental records with Mediterranean and multi‑ethnic influences and collaborated with artists such as Zucchero and Tommy Emmanuel. In addition to recording and touring, he arranged and composed for events like the Zecchino d'Oro and published a guitar method that documents his technical and pedagogical approach. His work has left a lasting mark on the Italian pop‑rock scene, both for his compositional contributions and for his role as an interpreter and guitar innovator.
