Dorothy Leigh Sayers was a multifaceted English writer, best known for her detective novels and also active as a translator, essayist, and playwright. She became famous for creating the aristocratic amateur detective Lord Peter Wimsey, the protagonist of novels and short stories set between the two world wars, works that established her reputation within twentieth-century crime fiction.
