Edward Albert (born Edward Laurence Heimberger) was an American actor active from the late 1960s into the 2000s, and the son of actor Eddie Albert. He rose to prominence in the early 1970s with sensitive, well-defined roles in films such as Butterflies Are Free (1972) and Forty Carats (1973), both directed by Milton Katselas. His standing was reinforced by critically noted performances, particularly in Stanley Kramer’s suspense film The Domino Principle (1977), in which he played Ross Pine opposite Gene Hackman.
Over the course of his career he moved between film and television, taking on a range of roles—from drama to action and science fiction—in titles like The Battle of Midway (1976), La Galaxie de la Terreur (1981), and numerous series and television movies into the 2000s. Alongside his acting, he was recognized for his skill in photography.
He died in 2006 of lung cancer, leaving a varied filmography that reflects both his family heritage and a distinct career characterized by introspective characters and collaborations with notable American directors.
