Eileen Marie Davidson is an American actress and author, best known for her long career in American daytime soap operas. She became a central figure in daytime television by playing Ashley Abbott on The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful, and for several notable multiple roles on Days of Our Lives — including Kristen DiMera and Susan Banks — as well as being the final actress to portray Kelly Capwell on Santa Barbara. Her television work has earned her two Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress, for Days of Our Lives (2014) and The Young and the Restless (2018), along with several other nominations. Davidson made forays into genre cinema in the 1980s and starred in the crime series Broken Badges (1990–91), before establishing herself as a regular presence in daytime drama. Alongside acting, she published a series of mystery novels between 2008 and 2011, the "Soap Opera Mystery" books, which feature a protagonist inspired by the world of soap operas. Her career is characterized by versatility in playing multiple roles within the same production, longevity within television franchises, and significance in the contemporary American soap opera scene.
