Enrique Flores Magón was a journalist, anarchist activist and a central figure of magonismo in Mexico. Together with his brothers Jesús and Ricardo, he worked in dissident journalism from his youth, contributing to publications such as El Demócrata, El hijo del Ahuizote and, later, Regeneración, which were key outlets criticizing the Porfirio Díaz regime and spreading libertarian ideas. Persecuted and repeatedly imprisoned by Porfirian repression, Flores Magón spent many years in exile in the United States and Canada, where he helped organize press networks and activism, took part in drafting the program of the Partido Liberal Mexicano and worked to clandestinely distribute Regeneración in Mexico. Readings of authors such as Kropotkin, Malatesta and Proudhon shaped his commitment to an anarchist program for social change. Returning to Mexico after 1923, he faced internal dissensions within the magonista movement and remained involved in popular mobilization efforts; in 1933 he helped found the Confederación Campesina Mexicana in San Luis Potosí. His legacy remains linked to the Mexican anarchist tradition and to the role of militant press in opposing authoritarianism.
