Gianmarco Tamberi is one of the most prominent names in contemporary high jump. The Italian athlete won the Olympic title at Tokyo 2020 by sharing the gold medal with Mutaz Essa Barshim—a gesture that became a symbol of fair play; he is also the outdoor world champion (Budapest 2023) and the outdoor European champion (2024). On the circuit, he won the Diamond League in 2021, 2022, and 2024, an unprecedented achievement for an Italian.
Holder of the Italian records—2.39 m outdoors (Monaco, 2016) and 2.38 m indoors (Hustopeče, 2016)—Tamberi made his name through steady performances at major competitions and several standout results across the decade.
