Grant Hill is an American executive and former professional basketball player, known both for his on‑court career and his work in the sports business world. As a player he rose to prominence at Duke University, where he was central to two national championships (1991 and 1992) and collected individual honors — including ACC Player of the Year (1994) — before being selected third overall in the 1994 NBA Draft. In the NBA he played primarily as a small forward for the Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers. He was a seven‑time All‑Star and earned five All‑NBA selections, and won the NBA Sportsmanship Award three times. His promising career suffered setbacks after a serious ankle injury in 2000, surgical complications and a lengthy recovery, but he returned to play at a high level for more than a decade before retiring in 2013. After hanging up his sneakers, Hill moved into executive and media roles: he is a co‑owner of the Atlanta Hawks and part of ownership groups for Orlando City SC, Orlando Pride and, more recently, the Baltimore Orioles; he also works as a commentator for major broadcast networks. In 2018 he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, cementing his legacy as one of the leading players of his generation.
