Guy Warren Ballard was an American mining engineer who, together with his wife Edna Anne Wheeler Ballard, founded the so-called "I AM" Activity — a spiritual movement that emerged in the United States in the 1930s. After studying Theosophy and occultism, Ballard reported, in publications under the pseudonym Godfré Ray King, mystical encounters with the Count of Saint Germain and other “Ascended Masters,” experiences that became the doctrinal core of the movement.
From public lectures about these revelations, the organization grew rapidly, claiming to reach hundreds of thousands of followers in the 1930s and establishing structures such as the I AM Sanctuary. The works Unveiled Mysteries and The Magic Presence served as the basis for the practices and teachings now associated with the so-called Ascended Master Teachings.
The movement defined itself as a spiritual and educational entity, supported by members' contributions and organized around the Saint Germain Foundation. After Guy Ballard's death in 1939, his followers began to attribute to him the status of an Ascended Master, a position that consolidated his legacy within this contemporary esoteric current.
