Jacques Villeneuve is a Canadian racing driver whose career includes achievements across multiple categories and the continuation of a family legacy in the sport. Winner of the Indianapolis 500 and the CART championship in 1995, Villeneuve moved to Formula 1, where he became world champion in 1997 after contesting the title until the final race against Michael Schumacher. Those accomplishments place him among the small group of drivers who have won both the Indianapolis 500 and the F1 World Championship. During his time in F1, he made a promising debut with Williams, had a competitive 1996 season and won the 1997 title; he later drove for teams such as BAR, Renault and Sauber, experiencing highs and lows that led to his departure from the championship. Outside Formula 1, he competed in endurance racing (including Le Mans), NASCAR, V8 Supercars, Stock Car Brasil and Formula E, showing versatility across various motorsport disciplines. Beyond his on‑track activities, Villeneuve has pursued musical projects, releasing original material as an amateur artist. His career is remembered both for notable sporting results and for keeping the Villeneuve name active in international motorsport.
