James Blunt (stage name of James Hillier Blount) is an English singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, known both for his musical career and his past as an officer in the British Army. He rose to international prominence with his debut album Back to Bedlam (2004), which included the widely heard singles “You’re Beautiful” and “Goodbye My Lover”; the record was one of the decade’s best‑selling albums in the UK and propelled his global career.

Over the following two decades he released a succession of albums — including All the Lost Souls (2007), Some Kind of Trouble (2010), Moon Landing (2013) and Who We Used to Be (2023) — and has sold more than 20 million copies. His work has earned significant awards such as Brit Awards, MTV Video Music Awards and Ivor Novello Awards, along with multiple Grammy nominations.

Before his music career, Blunt served on NATO missions in Kosovo and took part in the Queen’s Guard; his military experience shaped his public profile and his commitment to humanitarian causes, including support for Médecins Sans Frontières. His legacy combines mass‑appeal pop‑rock songs and a career that spans military service and commercial success in the recording industry.
