Javier Alonso Bedoya de Vivanco is a Peruvian lawyer and politician affiliated with the Christian People’s Party. The son of party elder Luis Bedoya Reyes, he built his legal career at Estudio Bedoya Abogados, focusing on constitutional, civil and administrative law, and taught Constitutional Law at the University of Lima from 1993 to 2004. He entered public life as a city councilor of the Municipality of Lima (1981–1983) and served as a member of the chamber of deputies for Lima from 1985 to 1992, participating in committees such as National Defense, Human Rights and Penal Institutions. After the dissolution of Congress in 1992 he stepped away from politics temporarily, later resuming party activity and holding leadership posts in the PPC, including vice president and interim president of the party. He returned to parliament as a congressman for Lima from 2006 to 2016, serving on the Constitution Committee and the Permanent Commission, acting as leader of the Unidad Nacional caucus; he also chaired legislative study groups and took part in the Intelligence Committee. His career is characterized by legislative work focused on constitutional matters, a close link to the PPC’s tradition and steady involvement in internal and electoral contests through the mid‑2010s.
