Jennifer Jones, stage name of Phylis Lee Isley, was an American actress whose film career spanned several decades and more than twenty films. Discovered by David O. Selznick, she achieved acclaim by winning the Academy Award for Best Actress for The Song of Bernadette (1943), a role that established her image as a sensitive, almost sanctified figure.
Throughout the 1940s and 1950s, Jones alternated between dramatic and controversial roles, standing out in films such as Duel in the Sun (1946), Love Letters (1945), Portrait of Jennie (1948) and Madame Bovary (1949).
