John Andrew Andretti was an American professional racing driver from the well-known Andretti family, with a distinguished career across multiple motorsport categories. During the 1980s and 1990s he won races in CART, IMSA GTP, the Rolex Sports Car Series and NASCAR, and he was victorious in the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1989 driving a Porsche 962. His versatility also included appearances in drag racing and endurance events, accumulating wins and poles at top-level circuits. A son of Aldo Andretti and nephew of Mario Andretti, John built an independent career: he won at Surfers Paradise in CART in 1991, had notable performances in the Indianapolis 500 and was the first driver to compete in both the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca‑Cola 600 on the same day, in 1994. In NASCAR he raced for teams such as Petty Enterprises and earned podiums and poles, including oval-track victories. A graduate in business administration from Moravian College, he combined formal education with track experience.
