Dame Judith Olivia Dench is an award-winning British actress, born in England, and an Oscar winner.
She has won many awards for her performances in theatre, television and film.
She received her professional training at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, and made her debut as Ophelia in Hamlet in Liverpool in 1957.
She then went on to appear in several seasons in Oxford and Nottingham.
In 1961 she joined the Royal Shakespeare Company and made numerous appearances in Stratford and London over the next two decades, winning several best actress awards.
