Kevin Escoffier is a French sailor known for his career in high-level ocean racing. Trained as an engineer, he specialized in materials engineering and structural design applied to racing boat construction, which led him to join prominent technical and sporting teams such as the Maxi Banque Populaire V campaigns and Team PRB. As a member of prestigious crews, he won the Transat Jacques-Vabre in double-handed class with his father in 2005, took part in the record-setting Jules Verne Trophy attempt in 2012, and joined Dongfeng Race Team, with which he won the 2017–2018 Volvo Ocean Race. In 2019 he took command of the IMOCA PRB and achieved notable results in races such as the Grand Prix Guyader and the Fastnet Race. His career received widespread international attention in November 2020 when he survived the sinking of his IMOCA during the Vendée Globe, spending twelve hours in a life raft before being rescued by fellow competitors; the incident highlighted both his seamanship and his technical knowledge of structural strength in boats. Since October 2023 he has faced charges that led him to temporarily suspend his career as a skippered while awaiting trial.
