KT Tunstall (Kate Victoria Tunstall) is a Scottish singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, known for blending rock, pop, folk and country in her work. She broke through with her debut album Eye to the Telescope (2004), which reached the top three in the UK and produced notable singles such as "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree", "Suddenly I See" and "Other Side of the World". Her solo performance on Later with Jools Holland was pivotal to her rise, drawing attention from both audiences and critics.
Over the course of her career she has released a range of records, including the acoustic album KT Tunstall's Acoustic Extravaganza (2006) and later albums such as Drastic Fantastic (2007), Tiger Suit (2010), Invisible Empire//Crescent Moon (2013), KIN (2016) and WAX (2018). She is known for live performances in which she builds full arrangements alone, using looping and pedals to create layered sounds.
A winner and nominee at major British awards, Tunstall won the BRIT Award for Best British Female Solo Artist in 2006 and received recognition for songs such as "Suddenly I See", which also earned her an Ivor Novello. Her reputation rests on combining instrumental virtuosity with accessible pop songs, establishing her as an influential figure on the contemporary British music scene.
