Lady Helen Taylor is a member of the British royal family, the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Kent and a great-granddaughter of King George V. Educated in boarding schools in the United Kingdom, she moved to London to begin a professional career in the art market, working at Christie’s in the Contemporary Art department and later collaborating with dealer Karsten Schubert. In that milieu she was associated with the discovery of contemporary artists such as Rachel Whiteread and Gary Hume, and there are accounts that she declined to represent Damien Hirst. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s she maintained a prominent presence on the London and international cultural circuit, including a long-term relationship with designer Giorgio Armani, for whom she served as ambassador and muse for about 17 years. She married art dealer Timothy Taylor, with whom she had children who appear in the line of succession. In addition to her work in the arts, she is active in health causes: she is patron of a charity dedicated to childhood cancer and sits on the board of trustees of a charitable organization involved in cancer treatment, and she also serves on the advisory board of the Glyndebourne Festival Opera.
