Lleyton Hewitt is a former Australian tennis player who reached world No. 1 and won two Grand Slam singles titles: the US Open (2001) and Wimbledon (2002). He turned professional in 1997 and stood out from a young age, winning his first ATP title in Adelaide at 16, a record of precocity at the time. He established himself on the tour with victories at significant events, including a Masters Series title (Indian Wells) and the year-end ATP Finals, spending weeks at the top of the world rankings. Over his career he won more than 30 ATP titles, known for his tenacity, his lob as a characteristic shot and his preference for hard courts. He also played an important role in team competitions, taking Australia to several Davis Cup finals and winning the ATP World Team Championship. He suffered from injuries at times, which affected his participation in key tournaments. Hewitt’s legacy is defined by his competitiveness and longevity on the tour, and he is regarded as one of the leading figures in Australian tennis in the early 2000s.
