Australian actor Nick Tate built an international career through work in television and film, best known for his role as pilot Alan Carter in the science fiction series Space: 1999, in which he appeared throughout both seasons. Initially trained in production and with experience as an assistant director at the Australian public broadcaster, he moved between films and series from the 1960s to the 2000s, earning credits in feature films such as The Devil's Playground, Evil Angels (Un cri dans la nuit) and Battle of Britain, as well as guest appearances on shows including The X‑Files, Farscape and Lost.
In addition to on‑screen acting, Tate worked extensively as a voice actor and narrator for trailers and commercials, taking part in humorous projects alongside other well‑known announcers. His versatility led him to portray figures ranging from historical characters to villains and roles in animation and video games, demonstrating his adaptation to varied genres.
Dividing his time between Australia and Los Angeles, he maintains a steady presence in film and television productions and is chiefly remembered for the international visibility brought by Space: 1999, which established his recognition outside Australia.
