Percy Celso Olivares Polanco is a former Peruvian footballer who played primarily as a left back. A product of Sporting Cristal’s youth system, he built a long professional career from 1986 into the mid-2000s, playing for clubs in South America, Europe and the United States. He won national titles with Sporting Cristal on multiple occasions and was part of squads that competed in the Copa Libertadores and other continental tournaments. He was a regular for the Peruvian national team, earning more than 80 caps and taking part in several World Cup qualifying campaigns and multiple editions of the Copa América, establishing himself as a steady presence for the national side throughout the 1990s. At club level he also had notable spells with Tenerife, Rosario Central — with whom he won the 1995 Copa Conmebol — Fluminense, Cruz Azul and clubs in Greece. After retiring as a player, Olivares moved into media: he appeared on television programs and reality shows, acted in minor TV productions and worked as a sports commentator and panelist for Peruvian broadcasters. In 2014 he accepted a coaching role in regional football, maintaining a public presence linked to the game and to media.
