Peter Keys (born Peter Michaelson Pisarczyk) is an American keyboardist whose career was established in the worlds of funk and classic rock. He began piano studies as a child and, after a brief stint at the Berklee College of Music, pursued the professional music scene, playing and recording in the San Francisco Bay Area with various rock and funk artists. From the 1990s he joined groups linked to the P-Funk legacy, at times replacing Bernie Worrell and sharing stages with figures such as Bootsy Collins and other artists from the funk and hip-hop circuits. In 2002 he began playing with the 420 Funk Mob, a project led by George Clinton that brought together long-standing members of the P-Funk movement. He later moved closer to the Southern rock world: in 2009 he was chosen to fill the role of pianist Billy Powell in Lynyrd Skynyrd, strengthening his presence in high-profile bands. He has also led business ventures related to music production, alternating live performances with studio work.
