Philippe Candeloro is a former French figure skater whose competitive career made him a prominent figure in the sport during the 1990s. A two-time Olympic bronze medalist (1994, 1998), he also won medals at the World Championships (silver in 1994, bronze in 1995), two European silver medals (1993, 1997) and four consecutive national titles (1994–1997). His competitive record combined notable results with wide popular appeal. Known for his charisma and theatrical style, Candeloro became famous for striking choreography and programs built around strong characters — including routines inspired by Conan and The Godfather — that emphasized his stage presence and became a signature in exhibitions. Sports historians recall him both for his competitive performances and for his impact as a showman in ice shows. After turning professional he became a regular on international tours and shows such as Champions on Ice, Holiday on Ice and Fantasy on Ice in Japan, and he created the Candel Euro Tour. In his native country he also worked as a commentator for figure skating broadcasts, maintaining influence in promoting and popularizing the sport in France.
