Rafael Nadal Parera is a Spanish professional tennis player. He is considered one of the greatest tennis players of all time. He was the first male player to win 22 Grand Slam titles; he was surpassed on 11 June 2023 after Djokovic won his 23rd title by winning Roland Garros. He has won 103 ATP-level titles, 92 of which were in singles and 11 in doubles. He is currently ranked world No. 240.
His particular success on clay (red clay) earned him the nickname "King of Clay" ("rei do saibro"/"rei da terra batida"); there is a consensus among current and former players and experts that he is the greatest tennis player in history on that surface, even surpassing the Swede Björn Borg.
He also won two Olympic gold medals: the first in singles at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and the second in doubles at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. He also won 39 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 titles, 36 of them in singles and 3 in doubles. He is one of four tennis players to win each of the Grand Slam tournaments at least twice.
