Romane Dicko is a prominent French judoka competing in the over-78 kg category, known for continental, world and Olympic titles. Emerging at a young age, she won her first senior European title in 2018 and has collected multiple Grand Slam and Grand Prix victories, often finishing contests by ippon. In 2022 she became world champion in Tashkent and established herself as one of the leaders of the French team. At the Olympic Games she won an individual bronze medal in Tokyo 2020 and again in Paris 2024, and was part of the mixed team that took gold in both Tokyo and Paris. Her career combines success in team events and individual tournaments, including repeated continental finals against opponents such as Raz Hershko. Alongside her sport, Dicko is studying mathematics with the aim of working in aerospace engineering and has become a public figure sought by sponsors and national awards; she was named a chevalier of the Légion d’honneur and promoted to officier of the Ordre national du Mérite. Her path has also included episodes of disciplinary controversy and instances of harassment that were addressed publicly.
