Ruth Duskin Feldman was an American public figure known as a child prodigy, author, and editor. She rose to prominence as one of the youngest panelists on the Quiz Kids program from the age of seven, appearing in 146 radio episodes and 11 television broadcasts. Her early start revealed unusual abilities: she read books on chemistry at five and wrote poetry at seven. At thirteen she published her first book, a novel with a chemistry theme, and remained connected to media and education through her youth, attending the Chicago Lab School and later Northwestern University. As an adult she reflected on the program experience in Whatever Happened to the Quiz Kids? Perils and Profits of Growing Up Gifted, a work that brings together memories and analysis of the effects of growing up in the spotlight. In addition to her memoirs, she contributed to textbooks on human and child development, worked in local journalism, and served as an editor for a publication associated with religious humanism. Her legacy centers on accounts of the opportunities and challenges faced by gifted children in prominent public roles.
