Shilpa Shetty Kundra is an Indian actress whose career has been mainly in Hindi films, also known for her work as an entrepreneur, producer and former model. She made her film debut in Baazigar (1993), a role that earned her a first Filmfare nomination and launched a career defined by commercial hits and dramatic choices, such as Dhadkan (2000), Indian (2001) and Rishtey (2002). She received praise for more challenging performances in Phir Milenge (2004) and Life in a... Metro (2007), earning major nominations and establishing herself in both supporting and lead roles.
Alongside acting, Shetty built a television presence: she judged dance shows and appeared on reality TV, winning the fifth series of Celebrity Big Brother in the United Kingdom in 2007 — an event that drew wide international coverage. She has also served as a judge on programs such as Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, Nach Baliye and Super Dancer.
Off screen, she became an active voice on public causes, supporting animal rights and fitness campaigns; she has released material on yoga and taken part in government health-promotion initiatives. She was a co-owner of the Rajasthan Royals cricket team (2009–2015) and is regarded as an influential figure in Indian entertainment and advertising.
