Tom Glavine is a former American professional pitcher who spent 22 seasons in Major League Baseball, primarily with the Atlanta Braves, and also with the New York Mets. Known for his consistency and command, he was prominent in the 1990s: he won 164 games in the National League that decade, posted five 20-win seasons, and won the Cy Young Award twice. He formed half of an outstanding Braves pitching trio with Greg Maddux and John Smoltz, a rotation that carried the team through a highly successful run in the 1990s. His most celebrated performance came in 1995, when he was named World Series MVP after helping the Atlanta Braves defeat the Cleveland Indians, including an eight-inning outing in which he allowed only one hit in a decisive game. In 1998 he won his second Cy Young following a 20–6 season with a 2.47 ERA. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame on his first ballot in 2014 with broad support. Beyond individual honors, Glavine’s legacy includes his longevity and the technical adjustments he made during his career, remaining effective after moving to the New York Mets in 2003. Among his career milestones is reaching 300 wins, a mark achieved by only a select group of pitchers in baseball history.
