Britt Ekland, born Britt‑Marie Eklund, is a Swedish actress whose career was established in British cinema beginning in the 1960s. Fluent in four languages, she debuted in Sweden and moved to England, where she appeared in films that made her a 1960s and 1970s sex symbol. Notable work includes Get Carter (1971) and The Wicker Man (1973), which broadened her recognition in crime and horror genres. Her best‑known role came in 1974, when she played Mary Goodnight in The Man with the Golden Gun, cementing her public image as a “Bond girl.” Her film visibility was accompanied by intense press attention because of high‑profile relationships, notably with actor Peter Sellers — to whom she was married and with whom she had a daughter — and later with singer Rod Stewart. In the latter part of her career, Britt worked more frequently in television and came to be remembered both for her filmography and for her place in the international jet set. Her persona has also been depicted in later productions, keeping her cultural notoriety alive.
