Christina Magdalena of Zweibrücken-Kleeburg (1616–1662) was a Swedish-German noble of the House of Wittelsbach, best known as margravine consort of Baden-Durlach after her marriage to Frederick VI in 1642. A granddaughter of King Gustav I of Sweden and the elder sister of the future King Charles X, she belonged to the high European nobility of the 17th century and maintained close ties with the Swedish court. Before her marriage she took part in the education of the young Queen Christina of Sweden at the request of the Riksdag, demonstrating her presence and influence in Swedish court life. Marriage negotiations that began in 1637 culminated in a union that led Christina to settle in Germany when her husband was unable to serve in the Swedish army. As a mother she had several children, including Frederick VII, who succeeded in Baden-Durlach, and others who played dynastic roles through marriages into princely families. Her descendants helped consolidate alliances among German houses. Christina Magdalena is remembered for her prominent place within the dynastic networks of Northern Europe in the post-Reformation period and for the personal and political links she embodied between the Swedish and German courts.
