Diana Vreeland was an international fashion icon and editor-in-chief of the two largest editorial publications in the field, Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, known for her boundless creativity and fiery temperament.

Over more than 40 years connected to the fashion world, she was called 'the oracle' ('oráculo'), 'the high priestess of fashion' ('sacerdotisa da moda') and 'the myth-maker' ('fabricante de mitos').

One of her most famous sayings among the many that made her a legend was spoken in 1946, as fashion editor of Harper’s Bazaar, after seeing one of the first examples of the bikini: "The bikini was the most important invention of this century after the atomic bomb"

She discovered Lauren Bacall, Anjelica Houston, Twiggy, Edie Sedgwick, Penelope Tree and Veruschka.  She ensured success for photographers Richard Avedon, Irving Penn, David Bailey, Patrick Litchfield and Cecil Beaton. And opened the doors of the magazine Harper’s Bazaar to celebrities such as the Beatles, Elizabeth Taylor, Barbra Streisand, Sophia Loren, Maria Callas and Mick Jagger.
