Edward R. Olwine is a former American professional baseball pitcher who was active mainly in the 1980s. A graduate of Morehead State University, he excelled in collegiate summer leagues with the Hyannis Mets, earning the Cape Cod League All-Star Game pitching victory in 1979 and helping the team secure a consecutive championship in the circuit. Signed as an amateur free agent by the New York Yankees in 1980, Olwine progressed through the minor leagues before reaching Major League Baseball. He played for the Atlanta Braves from 1986 to 1988, moving between the major-league roster and Triple-A, and finished his professional career in Richmond in 1988. His name also appears in statistical records: Olwine shares with Juan Alvarez the Major League record for most games pitched without recording a win, with 80 appearances. Although he did not stand out for wins, his career illustrates the path of many pitchers who move between the minors and the majors, contributing in relief appearances and to the development of teams and grassroots leagues.
