Ellesse Andrews is a New Zealand track cyclist, known for her range across sprint and endurance events before committing full-time to sprint racing. Emerging from the junior ranks, she claimed regional and world junior titles — including the junior world team sprint crown and a junior world record in the pursuit — and swiftly moved into the national elite squad. In her senior career she accumulated numerous national and continental titles and made an impact on the world stage: she was world keirin champion in 2023 and won the Speed Champions League, alongside medals at international rounds. At the Commonwealth Games and World Championships she returned to the podium on several occasions, producing consistent results in keirin, sprint and team sprint events. At the 2024 Olympic Games she recorded the most significant results of her career, taking gold in the individual sprint and in the keirin and silver in the team sprint, becoming the first New Zealander to win two golds at the same Games. Her achievements were formally recognised with national honours, confirming her status as one of New Zealand’s leading track cyclists and a role model for future generations.
