Graham Rahal is an American racing driver and businessman, best known for his work in the IndyCar Series. The son of Indianapolis 500 champion Bobby Rahal, he established himself early in junior motorsport by winning the Formula Atlantic class at the SCCA Runoffs in 2005 and delivering strong results in series such as Star Mazda, Atlantic and A1 Grand Prix. He began competing at a high level in 2007 with Newman/Haas/Lanigan and, after the unification of American open-wheel categories, became a regular presence in IndyCar. His first IndyCar victory came in 2008 at the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg when, still a teenager, he became one of the youngest winners of a major American open-wheel race. Over his career he has collected poles and podiums and taken part in endurance events such as the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring, alternating stints with teams including Sarah Fisher Racing, Dreyer & Reinbold and the family-run Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. Known for his early rise and for maintaining ties to his family’s motorsport operation, Rahal is also described as a small business owner. His legacy includes continuing the Rahal name in American racing and a career defined by victories, adaptability to different teams and a steady presence in the country’s top open-wheel category.
