Jordin Sparks is an American singer, songwriter and actress who rose to prominence after winning the sixth season of a major televised music competition in 2007 at age 17, becoming the youngest winner in the franchise's history. Her self-titled debut album (2007) met with critical and commercial success, reaching the top 10 of the Billboard 200, earning platinum certification and selling more than two million copies worldwide; its notable singles included "Tattoo" and "No Air" (with Chris Brown), the latter earning a Grammy nomination and becoming one of the most successful hits ever to come from the show.

Sparks established herself as a consistent presence on the charts: her second album, Battlefield (2009), debuted in the Billboard top 10 and its title track became her fifth single to reach the top 20, a unique achievement among former contestants of the competition. Over the course of her career she has also released a mixtape and other albums and received industry recognition — among her awards are an American Music Award, a BET Award, an NAACP Image Award and multiple popular-vote honors.

Alongside her music career, she expanded into theater and film, notably making her stage debut in In the Heights (2010) and appearing in the film Sparkle (2012). She has also launched lines of perfumes and maintained a steady public presence, leaving a legacy as one of the most successful artists to emerge from the television program.
