Kiesza, stage name of Kiesa Rae Ellestad, is a Canadian singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose career reached international prominence with the single "Hideaway," which debuted at the top of the UK chart in 2014. In addition to singing, she performs as an instrumentalist (guitar and keyboards), dancer and performer, and has built a public image defined by choreographed videos and live shows with strong visual impact. Trained musically at Selkirk College, she began performing live as a teenager and worked as a songwriter for other pop artists. Her debut album, Sound of a Woman, established her in the pop-electronic scene, producing follow-up singles such as "Giant in My Heart" and collaborations on tracks by electronic producers and DJs. Her career includes a hiatus prompted by a serious car accident in 2017, followed by recovery and a gradual return to activity, with new material from 2019 and the second album Crave released in 2020. Her work is noted for blending genres, a strong performative presence, and songwriting that moves between dance-pop and electronic influences.
