Luise Rainer was an actress of German origin whose dramatic talent brought her international prominence in the 1930s and 1940s. Trained in European theatre, she distinguished herself in Max Reinhardt’s repertoire before being recruited by Hollywood, where she quickly won over critics and audiences.
