Madeleine Malonga is a French judoka of international prominence, best known for competing in the under-78 kg category. Trained within France’s high-performance system, she joined INSEP and the pôle espoirs in Amiens, and rose to national attention by winning the French national championships in 2014 and 2017, as well as team titles with Blanc-Mesnil. At continental and world level, Malonga won the European Championships in 2018 and again in 2020, adding further medals in subsequent editions. In 2019 she reached the peak of her career by becoming world champion in Tokyo, winning the final by ippon against then-champion Shori Hamada of Japan. In 2021 she was the Olympic silver medallist in Tokyo, taking individual silver and contributing to strong team campaigns. Throughout her career she has earned numerous podium finishes at Grand Slams, Grand Prix events and the Masters, has been part of the France Douane team, and has received national honours including the Légion d’honneur. Alongside her sporting career she pursues studies in the health field, maintaining significance and a lasting presence in contemporary French judo.
